The Witchdoctor is one such suit. In Exoprimal, players will need the help of various Support exosuits to survive dinosaur encounters, gettings buffs and healing that turn the tide of battle. While the Witchdoctor sounds like a fairly standard Support on the whole, its focus on mobility will likely set it apart from other Exoprimal Support suits in the long run. Fans of class-based games may not feel inclined to master the Witchdoctor, instead favoring Tank or Assault suits, but in a game with flexible team compositions like Exoprimal, players of all kinds would be wise to familiarize themselves with this Support suit and others.

Exoprimal and the Witchdoctor

As the Support moniker suggests, the Witchdoctor is responsible for helping allies, rather than focusing on interacting with hostile dinosaurs. The Witchdoctor’s main goal in Exoprimal is to improve its team’s survivability, according to Capcom. While Tanks hold back dinosaurs and Assault suits thin the enemy ranks, the Witchdoctor will repair other suits and keep everyone in fighting shape. Exoprimal’s Witchdoctor will also be able to provide a variety of buffs for allies. If it’s designed for increasing ally survivability, it wouldn’t be surprising if the Witchdoctor can reduce incoming damage somehow outside of healing.

Notably, the Witchdoctor does have a particular proclivity for mobility. Capcom may not have listed all the Witchdoctor’s buffs yet, but it does mention that the Witchdoctor can increase the movement speed of allies, which should allow Assault suits to stay out of harm’s way while getting Tanks into position wherever they’re needed. The Witchdoctor itself is apparently inherently mobile too, able to quickly jump around in order to catch up with endangered allies. All in all, the Witchdoctor sounds a little like Lucio from Overwatch thanks to its healing and movement. In a PvE game filled with hulking beasts and overwhelming swarms, a movement-based Support is a welcome addition.

Supports in Exoprimal’s Gameplay Loop

Players in Exoprimal would be wise to learn the ropes of Exoprimal’s Support exosuits, even if they focus on playing other roles. In Exoprimal, players can swap exosuits at any time, meaning players of all kinds will likely need to briefly switch to the Witchdoctor or some other suit in order to protect teammates in a pinch. Once players have a handle on the situation, they can always switch back to their preferred suit afterwards. Brief bursts of Witchdoctor healing and movement speed could make all the difference in Exoprimal’s seemingly frantic dinosaur hunts.

While other exosuits like the Deadeye and the Roadblock fill in pretty general gaps in Exoprimal’s class lineup, the Witchdoctor is actually fairly specific, thanks to its movement speed abilities. It fills a very specific niche in Exoprimal, therefore leaving a lot of room for experimentation with other Support styles. It’ll be interesting to see how Exoprimal handles Support design and healing compared to peers like Overwatch, either making healing a Support’s main responsibility or adding a wide range of Support playstyles. Exoprimal is bound to pack a wide variety of threats through its otherworldy dinosaurs, so it would be great to see the Support category fill up with highly unique exosuits over time.

Exoprimal releases in 2023 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
