This week, Capcom held a new showcase to discuss news and announcements surrounding upcoming games like Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, Resident Evil 4, and plenty more. Exoprimal was also a major focus, providing players with a ton of new details including an upcoming Network Test, which fans can sign up to participate in while also getting a first hands-on look at the unique dinosaur combat. Capcom also showed off the game’s story campaign and a look at two new exosuits as well.

Set in the year 2040 and dinosaur outbreaks have threatened humanity’s existence. Thanks to an advanced AI named Leviathan, players are able to fight back against the threat using specialized exosuits. In addition to the four originally revealed in the Exoprimal reveal, Capcom showed off two new Assault class exosuits during its presentation. Barrage specializes in explosives, igniting enemies and using grenades in close quarter combat. The hooded Vigilant exo is better at range, wielding a large rail gun to hit enemies for massive damage.

According to Capcom, the main story game mode is known as Dino Survival, which will attempt to piece together the mystery behind the AI Leviathan, how it controls these dinoswarms, and why it continues to force players to participate in these various wargames. Inside this game mode, two teams of five players race to complete objectives before the rival team does. Objectives are dynamically generated each time and include various missions like:

Dinosaur Cull - Teams hunt and kill a specific dinosaur. VTOL Defense - Teams must protect a downed aircraft from enemy hordes. Data Key Security - Teams need to escort a device to a specific destination. Omega Charge - Destroy targets using a powerful weapon called the Omega Hammer. Energy Taker - Teams race to collect the most energy scattered around the map.

In addition, Capcom teased situations where players will face off against one another, and then another objective where they need to team up to take down a massive boss character. Capcom is looking to keep Dino Survival feeling fresh and has confirmed that this mode will dynamically change based on progression so that no two sessions feel the same. Exoprimal Players will earn new rewards, story cutscenes, as well as XP to further enhance the player character and Exosuit levels.

Interested players can sign up to participate in a Closed Network Test from the official website, though without a solid release date for Exoprimal, Capcom has not provided any further details or dates on when the test will commence.

Exoprimal releases in 2023 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
